Nintendo is a Japanese company founded in 1889. In 1891, Nintendo made Japanese cards called Hanafuda Cards. They started making games in 1974. Their first breakthrough success was Donkey Kong in 1981.

In 1990, they released the Super Nintendo Entertainment System which had Super Mario World and Street Fighter II.

The next big thing for Nintendo was the Wii with motion controls to play tennis, golf, boxing and baseball games in 2006.

In 2013, the Wii U was launched with 3D effects that could be seen on your TV or on the gamepad screen with a built-in camera. The goal was to allow people to play without having to buy two different gaming systems.

In 2017, Nintendo released their latest console called Switch which can be played both at home and on the go because it’s portable. It has been a big seller so far!

Nintendo’s First Successful Video Game

Nintendo’s first successful video game was a traditional version of tennis on an oscilloscope which they released in 1974.

Console Wars!

Nintendo is responsible for some of the most memorable and popular video games of all time. While they have been in the gaming industry longer than any other company, their journey has been filled with highs and lows.

In 1983, Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in North America. It was a huge success and its game Super Mario Bros. became one of the most iconic games ever made.

In the 1990s, Sony and Sega introduced new consoles that were technologically superior to NES. The SNES console had increased graphics capacity and more processing power, which made it more appealing to gamers than Sega Genesis or Sony PlayStation but it still couldn’t compete with new consoles from competitors.

The 2000s brought about a shift in how people played video games with online multiplayer gaining traction as a result of Sony’s PlayStation 2 console. Nintendo followed suit by creating the Nintendo GameCube followed by Wii in 2006

Nintendo enjoyed another period of success when they released their newest console Switch in 2017 with some surprising features including handheld mode and tablet screen. They also recently released Kirby Star Allies for the system to rave reviews from gamers everywhere!

The Wii Phenomenon

In 2006, Nintendo released their Wii console and it became an overnight success. The console was unique in that it had a motion-sensitive remote control. This allowed people to play video games by waving the remote like a sword or swinging it like a golf club. The Wii was revolutionary because not only could you play the game and choose your own way to move, but it also introduced motion controls to people who typically could not or would not play video games.

The Wii Remote is one of the most iconic products Nintendo has ever produced and is still on sale today. Whether you are playing solo or with family and friends, the Wii Remote controller allows for some great family fun – something Nintendo has been known for since 1889!

The Switch Revolution

In March of 2017, Nintendo announced the release of their newest console: the Switch. The Switch is a hybrid console that can be played at home or on the go. This design was in response to what Nintendo learned from the Wii U and 3DS— many gamers are interested in playing games but prefer not to buy a console. With this new system, you can play on your TV or take it with you as you travel.

Currently, there are over 500 games available for the Switch. This includes franchises like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, ARMS and Mario Odyssey. Along with great games, Nintendo has also been working hard on making sure we have enough accessories and peripherals to truly make this a must-have system for any gaming enthusiast.

The future looks bright for Nintendo!

Conclusion

Nintendo has come a long way since Donkey Kong. They’ve created some of the most popular video games in the world, introduced the world to casual gaming, and made a huge impact on the video game industry.

The course of Nintendo’s history is a complicated one. It includes successes and failures, as well as a handful of innovative new consoles.

Nintendo’s success has always been rooted in creating games that push the boundaries of what’s possible. And now, with the Switch, they’ve created a gaming console that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.
